What is the Auto-Scroll Feature?

Last updated on Nov 18, 2024

The Auto-Scroll feature automatically scrolls the page to a specified element or option whenever a user takes a particular action, such as clicking on a swatch or variant. This ensures that customers are instantly directed to the exact position on the page, without having to manually scroll, which can be time-consuming and frustrating.

How Does Auto-Scroll Work?

There are two primary uses for the Auto-Scroll feature, both designed to enhance user experience:

  1. Scroll to a Specified Element by ID
With this option, store owners can configure the app to automatically scroll to any element on the page that has a unique ID. This could be a specific section, a product detail, or any part of the page you want to highlight. For example, you can link a product variant to its corresponding details, so when a customer clicks on a color swatch, the page automatically scrolls to the section where the size options or additional product info are located.

  2. Scroll to the Option's Position on the Previous Product Page
The second functionality of the Auto-Scroll feature is especially useful for combined listings. When a customer clicks on a product swatch (such as a color or size), the app can automatically scroll to the corresponding option on the previous product page. For example, if a customer clicks on a red variant for a T-shirt on the collection page, the page will not only take them to the product page for that variant but will also scroll directly to where the red color option is displayed. This ensures that the customer immediately sees the correct selection, improving the efficiency of the shopping process and preventing any confusion.

Why Is the Auto-Scroll Feature Important?

  1. Enhanced User Experience
By automatically guiding users to the relevant section or variant, you make it easier for them to make quick, informed decisions. The convenience of auto-scrolling reduces friction during the browsing experience, which can lead to a smoother, faster checkout process.

  2. Reduced Bounce Rates
When users can easily find the options they are interested in without having to manually search or scroll through the page, they are less likely to get frustrated and leave. This leads to increased engagement and potentially higher conversion rates.

  3. Streamlined Shopping Journey
Customers no longer need to search for specific options on long product pages. The auto-scroll function streamlines the process, ensuring they land directly on the variant they selected, whether it’s by color, size, or other attributes. This eliminates unnecessary steps, speeding up the decision-making process.

  4. More Efficient Navigation
In combined listings where multiple products are grouped, this feature ensures users are guided directly to the product and option they are looking for, without wasting time navigating through unrelated options. It creates a more organized and intuitive shopping environment.
